When did you fall in love with sport?
Earlier today UK sport tweeted 'when did you fall in love with sport'. It got me thinking...
Brian Lara's 375 v England in Antigua in 1994.
I used to watch the video of Lara's Innings every morning before school. Everything about it, the one foot pulling, the England bowlers look of despair, the cover drives, the atmosphere, the fact Lara played golf (right-handed) the morning before resuming on 164*, the kiss of the pitch, Sobers watching on and the tunnel of bats from his team-mates. Brilliant.

Afghanistan - touch down in flight
Lukas Augustin lived and worked in Kabul from 2006-2008. He recently returned to show his fiance the place that he loves and to capture the beauty of the country on film. The locations are Kabul & Mazar-e Sharif and the the images provide a different impression of Afghanistan than the one that has been written on us from the pictures we usually see. The film is dedicated to Gayle, a friend of Lukas' who was shot in the streets of Kabul.
Looking forward to chatting to Lawrence about Afghanistan when he returns in February.

Patagonia - Common Threads Initiative
Brave & brilliant. As we've come to expect from the forward thinking, world loving folk at Patagonia. A reminder to honour life & nature.

We bought a zoo
Cameron Crowe's latest film has got all the good ingredients: Scarlett Johansson, Matt Damon, the 'Based on a True Story' tag line and Sigur Ros' Jonsi in charge of the tunes! It is also released on the eve of Christmas eve.
Made by Hand
Awesome film project coming out of Brooklyn, NY. In episode 2 meet writer turned knife maker Joel Bukiewicz. Never thought I'd be inspired by a knife maker but his skill is like an art, serious time and effort and a massive desire to make the best.

What would you do to change the world?
Nice one Vodafone. Their World of Difference Programme is funding people to take time out to work for their dream charity.

Armistice Day
'They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.'

The Patient Gardener
Awesome tree sculpture from VisionDivision architects at Poletecnico di Milano campus. Expected to be complete in 60-100 years.
The High Line
The High Line was a disused rail track going through NYC. Until Joshua David & Robert Hammond got together with a few friends and made their idea happen. Now the High Line is one of the coolest public open space parks on the planet.
This week was a big one for The High Line as all stakeholders pledged to completing the final section.
Oliver Jeffers - book project
In 2004 Oliver Jeffers book travelled over 60,000 miles between friends. The results were awesome.
