Last night Richard Reed-Parry of Arcade Fire and Aaron & Bryce Dessner of The National took over BBC 6 Music. One of many fine results was the playing of 'Silent Night' & 'Barcarola (You Must be a Christmas Tree) two festive songs the takeover artists recorded a while ago with Sufjan Stevens, listen & download them here. Apparently Sufjan records a christmas album every year for his friends, nice gift.

On December 1st (World Aids Day) America's top celebrity tweeters sacrificed their digital lives to help 'Keep a Child Alive' save millions of real ones.

Women Who Hit Very Hard

Kathy Ryan (Picture Editor for New York Times Magazine) asked photographer Dewey Nicks to work with nine of the world's top female tennis players. The goal of the project was to capture the power and grace of the athletes. The final portfolio of work is made up of still photos paired with super slow motion film footage that captures the athleticism and beauty of women's tennis. Robin Fenlon & the WTA

Ex pro BMX rider, photographer & film maker Robin Fenlon is currently following the top female tennis players for the WTA. Robin captures both individual and social aspects of training from the practice courts at the Chinese Open. The short film gives us an insight into warming up for a tournament and, as you become to expect from the work of Robin it looks beautiful (to view more of his film work click on his name below).

Motivation - Dan Jansen

Prior to the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver TBWA ran an ad campaign for Visa called Go World. They told the inspiring stories of certain athlete's. Since cold weather has a habit of stealing motivation and these videos aren't as easy to stumble into anymore I thought it wouldn't harm to revisit the Dan Jansen story.
